Curriculum

The Isandla Usizo programme is a three year curriculum designed to be taught at primary school level for grade one, two and three learners, but can also be adapted for younger or older children. The programme has the unique feature of using music and arts to drive home foundational life and business principles.

The central point of each lesson is the story, in which music and life skills come together to form a seamless teaching experience. The activities that are built around the story make up the rest of the lessonplan, and will further underscore the theme. Also, the learners are taught a new song every two weeks wherein the words of the song either emphasize the principles learnt or teach something to support the music objedtive. Finally, the ‘take home paper’ serves to recapture all that has been learnt in the class as well as involve the parent and establish communication between the parents and the presenter.

Each one year curriculum for the Isandla Usizo program includes the following items;

  • Presenter guide and lesson plans
  • Story pictures
  • Song book
  • Audio CD 1 with songs
  • Audio CD 2 with songs
  • Take home paper book 1
