Letter from the Author

When I was young my father made me recite a little rhyme every morning in the car on the way to school. “I feel happy, I feel healthy, I feel terrific. I do my work, I do my best, I am a leader.” As an adult looking back on my childhood and teenager years, I can see how these positive confessions have shaped my whole life.

Positive confession is a natural law, not unlike the law of gravity. You can choose not to believe in gravity, but if you step off a building you are still going to fall. In the same way the confessions you make about yourself and your environment will have an effect on you, whether positive or negative. The word of God states in Proverbs 23:7 that “As a man thinks in his heart so is he.”

The aim of the Isandla Usizo Program is to coach children in fundamental life principles to help them build productive lives and to shape the way they see themselves and their reality. If we as adults train up our children in the way that they should go, they will not depart form it when they are older. With this in mind every song, story, and activity that forms part of the programme has been designed to achieve this goal.

Therefore remember that we are together educating the future of South Africa and our every word and action is making a difference.
